Color is the New Black

In the past my wardrobe consist of three things: BLACK BLACK and more BLACK. Well, with my new transfer I am attempting to turn over a new leaf. I am starting to incorporate more color into my wardrobe in order to fit the summery Nashville scene.

It's not that I didn't like color. And it's not that I was afraid of color. Black was just easy. Thrown on a black shirt, jeans, and one bright accessory. So EASY. Well, personally that won't fly in Nashville, so COLOR is the NEW BLACK. I am starting to pair colors together and slowly move black out of my closet as a main item. Take a look at my new style inspirations.

Design Dream

Just like any other girl I fantasize about my wedding, my future career, and of course my house. I cannot wait to design my first house or apartment. It will give me a chance to take my creative side to an all new level. No one stopping me, no one holding my creativity back.

I guess I would call my style modern prep. My house/apartment will be simplistic with bursts of color and patterns.

Designing a house takes time and lots of thought and strategy, so here are some snip-its of what I hope will be the inspiration for my future apartment (because that is a little closer in the future than a house).

LOVE the idea of coloring the ceiling and not the walls. Gives the bathroom some drama!
Organization is key in a small apartment!
A bedroom is the only place that is all mine! Meaning I can go crazy with patterns and colors.
And I will do that.
Another great idea: wallpaper on the ceiling!
I love simplicity in a dining room because there shouldn't be distractions in this room. But the bursts of color and pattern are oh so perfect!
GLAMOROUS!
I wouldn't orange, but the color blocking here is exactly what I want.
I have always had an obsession with office spaces.  And with a little more color this one would fit right in with my apartment decor.

Summer Trend

This past year I have noticed a new trend: the maxi skirt. Yes, I've always had mad love for the maxi dress, but until recently I was unsure of this half maxi dress. Through my love of Pinterest, I have found the perfect way to wear a maxi skirt without looking boho-chic or hippie inspired. I consider my style to be classy and simplistic with a little flare, and I never thought a maxi skirt could be worn in that way until now.

I am currently on the lookout for a way to replicate this outfit before I head out to the hamptons. It has all my favorite pieces: color blocking, simplicity, cute [gold] accessories, thong sandals, and just overall class. It is so put together and ever so perfect for the Hamptons!

How would you style a maxi skirt? Boho chic or Hamptons class?

Birthday Wish List

With my birthday coming up in a couple months (September 1 to be exact), I have started to think about what I want.
Lilly Pulitzer Iphone 4 case
Lilly Pulitzer Laptop Case in Luscious
Pandora Bracelet with owl charm
Ralph Lauren Baseball Cap (will need this in the south)
Vera Bradley Loop Keychain in Rosy Posies

Singer sewing machine to make all my DIY dreams come true :)
And last but not least, I want a new wallet. I am not sure what brand or what style, but I definitely need a new one because mine is falling apart!
